Jennifer's practice is dedicated primarily to criminal defence work both as a trial and appellate lawyer. She has the technological skills required for electronic appeals, electronic disclosure and the use of trial presentation software. These skills give Jennifer a competitive advantage in all of the courts she appears before, from the Provincial Court to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Jennifer has extensive trial experience, including jury trials, as well as experience in appeals, judicial dispute resolution and mediation. In addition to Criminal Code matters, Jennifer's criminal defence practice also includes defending provincial and federal prosecutions under the Income Tax Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Fair Trading Act, and Environmental legislation.
Michael’s practice is currently split between criminal trial and appellate work and administrative litigation. He has consistently worked to develop skills in the use of technology in the courtroom and is well equipped to handle matters in the emerging areas of electronic appeals, trials and electronic disclosure / discovery.
Michael has valuable trial and appellate experience in both criminal and civil matters and has appeared at all levels of court in Alberta and at the Supreme Court of Canada. Michael has had particular success representing corporate clients that have been charged under the Fair Trading Act.
Most recently, Michael has developed a client base in administrative proceedings including both police officer and inmate disciplinary hearings and has also acted for citizens commencing private criminal prosecutions.
Michael frequently volunteers his time at the University of Calgary and the Canadian Bar Association as an advisor for legal clinics and trial competitions and presently holds an appointment as a Tribunal Member for the University of Calgary Students' Union.
